I am attracted to problems which have
interesting spatial-temporal structure, where simple dynamic
models may have something to contribute, where results from the
models can be tested with observations, and where understanding
the problem better would have some practical benefit to society.
Most of my work has focussed on
earthquakes. I have also collaborated on some other
problems, erosion and climate in particular. The links
