Cities from Space
Each city name below is linked to a jpeg image of a Landsat visible/IR composite collected by Landsat 5 (pre 1999) or Landsat 7.
Most of the image areas are 30x30 km (200K (~40 seconds via 56K modem)) but few are significantly larger. Plan Accordingly.
All images are shown at full resolution (30 m pixel) so the scale (on your screen) is equivalent.
In these composites, the Red, Green and Blue layers correspond to Short Wavelength Infrared, Near Infrared and Visible radiance measurements.
Vegetation appears green, clear water appears black, high albedo objects appear white and built up areas are usually purple/gray.
The global collection contains 78 cities with thumbnails and takes longer to load.
