<>LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
I hope everyone appreciated the fact that the reason we could
all
come to work on Monday was that Dick Greco and his crew started
work
in the snowstorm at midnight Saturday night and worked through
to
Sunday afternoon, and then came back again at 5am Monday morning
to
clear the sidewalks. Thank you all.
More than 40 undergraduates downtown have had formal legal
action
taken against them for illegal file sharing - next week I
will resend
to everyone the memo that was distributed a year ago warning
of the
significant perils of this simply illegal activity. We must
make
sure that our network and systems on this campus are never
used for
activities that are against the law.
Having a daughter who is a PhD student exposes me to odd materials
the existence of which I would otherwise be unaware. Who knew
that
there was a web site dedicated to comics depicting the joys
and
frustrations of graduate student life? (Maybe everyone besides
me?)
Flew to Atlanta this afternoon. There won't be any snow there.
Have a great weekend.
- Mike
