2012 found Teachers in Greenland!

Spring 2012 a group of five teachers from the United States, Denmark and Greenland joined the Polar Team in Greenland to experience a few days of IceBridge field work. When the plane wasn't in the air the group visited Russell Glacier, which at one time extended right through Kangerlussuaq, our base of operations for this part of the trip. Russell still cuts an impressive profile against the skyline (above). To the right, Tom Tom Koch Svennesen, from Aasiaat Greenlandand and Sine Madsen from Sisimiut, Greenlandand spend a few quiet moments perched in front of the calving glacier front enjoying some bread and cheese and the incredible view.

Meeting the Scientists Was Fascinating!

The teachers enjoyed the opportunity to meet the science team, peppering them with questions about each of the instruments, how they worked, what information each was able to provide, and how this might translate into their classrooms. To read about the teacher's visit to Greenland and see a short video clip, click on the image of Tom Koch Svennesen and Peter Gross talking with James Jacobson aboard the P3, this will take you straight to the NASA site.
