Happy Thanksgiving - I wish everyone a wonderful Holiday with their families. This marks the beginning of the slide to the end of the year - that will be here so rapidly given the time that our annual pilgrimage to the San Francisco AGU meeting requires.

Over the weekend, Congress passed an Omnibus bill for the remaining 2005 (10/01/04–9/30/05) annual funding bills. We will provide full details next week, but they did stay within their budget limitations so that research funding in some cases increased, but in others was level-funded or slightly lower than last year. The bills were funded with an across-the-board reduction as has been common in recent years to meet budget targets. In addition, these funding activities will begin on December 2.
