<> LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
There is an important date in October that you
should mark on your calendars. On October 19th we will hold
a day long event - Remembering Gerard Bond - we will have
speakers from inside and outside Lamont talking about Gerard
and talking about the science that he loved, and to which
he contributed so much. We are in the midst of planning this
- the detailed program and the speakers have still to be identified
but we should be able to provide more information in a couple
of weeks.
Wally is helping me plan this, but he left for
fieldwork in Greenland with George Denton this morning and
will not be back till the end of the month. I presume (and
hope) that they will return with epic pictures of themselves
atop some shrinking glacier…
A day trip to DC to do business at NSF consumed
yesterday, and I have to go back for a Marine Mammal Commission
meeting on Monday, so my US Air frequent flier mile account
is getting healthy again after being raided by my kids for
their summer travel.
Another hot and thunderstormy weekend is before
us,
Keep cool and dry,
– Mike
