<> LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Miraculously I got back on time from a day in
DC on Monday night, through the usual circle of thunderstorms
that surround La Guardia - after a day of difficult discussions
at the Marine Mammal Commission.
But the most enjoyable highlight of the week
was a visit to Stonybrook's research vessel Seawolf, when
she came alongside Piermont Pier briefly on Tuesday afternoon.
Tim Kenna from Geochemistry was leading a group of Lamont
and other staff who were carrying out a pilot trial of an
ambitious new Hudson River based education program. This was
a wonderful break from a day of otherwise routine meetings.
I did take a day off on Thursday - engaged in
my apparently never-ending search for the perfect boat - down
on the Chesapeake Bay this time. It was hot down there.
But now I am very much looking forward to the
weekend.
Have a great one,
– Mike
