<>LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

After a great Jardetzky Lecture by Barbara Romanowicz this afternoon,
we look forward to another week of significant activities - starting
on Monday with a round of important meetings with the shipyard to
discuss completion dates for the Langseth, and followed most
significantly on Wednesday with the formal groundbreaking for our new
Geochemistry Building. Please join us at 3pm in the Old Geochemistry
parking lot for brief speeches, shoveling of dirt with silver shovels
and a reception to which all are invited.

As the blue sky disappears with the approach of the weekend,
