The students did not seem much fazed by it all though. We could not do much
work this day and so they spent their time looking of the window at the swell
crashing on the decks or sleeping off the dramamine in the library. One
of the crew members hurt herself and so we had to put into Bermuda so she
could get immediate medical attention. There were ambulances and fire
engines (and a doctor) waiting for us on the docks.

I am not sure why these guys seem
so happy
holding that mess of cable in their hands. The barrel containing the
cable had washed overboard during the day leaving 350m of utterly tangled
cable. I suspect it is the prospects of getting a break from the constant
rocking and rolling and actually getting to sleep after almost 30 hours.
Or perhaps it was in anticipation of walking on land again.
