Sediment redistribution in the Hudson River caused by hurricanes Irene and Sandy

The goal of this proposal is to quantify the impacts of recent storms events and related record flooding and suspended sediment loads on the redistribution of sediments and their associated contaminants. We will identify major changes in sediment deposition in key areas of the Hudson River as result of these extreme storm events in an effort to update our understanding of tributaries as sediment sources, and to build a framework for understanding the storm-related impacts on sediment estuarine processes.
