<> LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Another two days were spent in Washington this week - for
a Marine Mammal Commission subcommittee meeting, several productive
discussions at NSF, and, most significantly, an excellent
Lamont Alumni Association event at the National Academy that
Frank Press hosted on our behalf. Mark Cane and Ed Cook gave
a superb presentation at this event - talking about the history
of drought in the western US since 800AD that was very well
received by the mostly Federal agency audience.
Suzanne Carbotte led the inaugural meeting of the planning
group for the development of 3D seismic processing here on
Monday and we were fortunate to host a meeting of the MARGINS
project steering committee on Thursday and Friday. And my
office received many many messages of thanks and appreciation
for all the hard work that went into making last Saturday's
Open Day the great success that it was. Thank you again to
everyone who helped with this.
Have a great weekend,
– Mike
