Sloan Coats has successfully defended his PhD thesis, Paleoclimate Model-Data Comparisons of Hydroclimate over North America with a Focus on Megadroughts, which was honored with the 2015 Science for Society Award from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.  Sloan is now off to UC-Boulder to do a postdoc with Kris Karnauskas in the Oceans and Climate Lab.  Congratulations Sloan!  [7/24/2015]

Lamont and the Earth Institute are pleased to welcome new Earth Institute postdoctoral fellow, Justin Mankin.  Justin will be working with Radley Horton, Richard Seager and Jason Smerdon on a project titled Near-term climate uncertainty, decision-making, and the fate of snow in a warming world.  He arrives from Stanford where he completed his Ph.D. with Noah Diffenbaugh and is a previous graduate of Columbia College and the Environmental Science and Policy MPA program in SIPA.  Welcome Justin!  [10/5/2015]
