On our twelfth annual 'Day in the Life of the Hudson River' the weather moving in from the south was warm and volatile. Heavy thunderstorms were threatened and concern for thunder and lightening caused close to 1/3 of our sites to postpone their sampling. Although the thunderstorms did not arrive, steady rains did reach much of the estuary in the morning. The rain followed a very dry August & September which for the third straight year saw the saltfront move up beyond Newburgh. 2014's highest saltfront mark was RM 71 on 10/4/14 but by the10/16/14 it had dropped to RM 65.9 and remained in that approximate range the following week for the majority the Day in the Life make up dates. With many sites sampling on dates other than 10/16/14 (see the list of sampling dates below) we will display data from all our sampling teams in a way that can allow them to be compared by date. In all 76 groups sampled this year most submitted data that is linked below.
