On this Tenth Anniversary Event of 'A Day in the Life of the Hudson River' 85 schools/groups at 67 sites with 3,765 students, teachers and education partners gathered on the Hudson River to carefully sample and explore. The weather threated rain for the day forcing several schools to postpone their events, but most groups ventured out to sample, many being treated to a sprinkle or shower. The week leading up to the event had been marked with several rainy days, following a fairly dry summer that found saltwater creeping all the way north to Poughkeepsie. 2012 marked the end of regular monitoring by the USGS for the 'salt front' (recorded as 100 ppm Cl-), leaving it up to the student samplers to locate this with their data.
