Lamont Weekly Report, August 14, 2009

It has been a remarkably hectic week not only a flood of proposals headed for the NSF August 15th target date, but also a string of visitors, from CU Research Admin on Morningside, and a new prospective LDEO Advisory board member.

Langseth nears the end of a very long slow passage from Taiwan to Astoria Oregon - just a few days out now - Teddy Koczynski's light-hearted daily reports from the ship as it has followed the great circle route - that takes her way into the northern Pacific - have been a source light relief through the week!

Despite the gorgeous weather today our last event in the Research Life series was well-attended in Lamont Hall. Ajit Subramaniam, Arnold Gordon and I attempted to convey some knowledge and understanding of the structure of federal government and how the various funding agencies function.

Summer will be over before we know it, Enjoy the beautiful weekend,

- Mike
